Janis Donovan (guest star Cynthia Nixon) turns in a powerful performance as a woman with multiple personalities who may have abused and fatally harmed her daughter. As Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) dig more deeply into the case - with initial resistance from Dr. Henry Carlisle (guest star Bronson Pinchot) -- Donovan continues to present even more personalities along with a harrowing twist to the case. For the detectives, it's a race against time to find the infant, while adjusting to sweeping changes in the SVU - a result from poor decisions made by the detectives that have spilled over to the squad.

Episode Notes - |
The opening credits have been updated for season nine with new photos for all of the cast and the group photo. All the regular cast from last season are back, and Adam Beach has been added to the starring roster. In order, the opening credits read: Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Richard Belzer, Diane Neal, Adam Beach, B.D. Wong, Tamara Tunie and Dann Florek.
John Munch has been promoted to Sergeant in this episode. Back in his days on Homicide: Life on the Street, Munch attempted to take the sergeant's exam with Kay Howard, but a 'comedy of errors' prevented his even reaching the exam. This time, he took the exam on a bar bet, and passed. |
